Turning classrooms into clinics

The goverment is preparing to turn elementary schools into vaccination clinics this fall in the wake of the WHO's labeling of the swine flu outbreak as an official pandemic. Problem, reaction, solution.

"While swine flu doesn't yet seem any more lethal than the regular flu...Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius faces the looming question of whether to push forward with swine flu vaccinations this fall [for] school-age children".

  1. The idea of having schools turned into “shot clinics” during school hours is barbaric. Schools are environments created for learning, not booster shots. As a teacher I believe in creating an environment for education based on the ideals of safety, security and confidence driven activities. If students come into school knowing they are going to be given a shot during their recess time their urge to learn will be diminished and their will to succeed will be blindfolded by thoughts a sharp needles. I am not one to lecture adults on how to keep their children safe and healthy but as a teacher I can strongly recommend throwing this senseless idea out the window
